SHETTIMA ARRIVES NEW YORK, SET TO ADVANCE NIGERIA’S GLOBAL ECONOMIC INTERESTS

SHETTIMA
Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in New York to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Shettima said Nigeria’s participation will focus on advancing the country’s national interests, strengthening multilateral cooperation and pushing for reforms that give developing countries greater representation in global institutions.
He is expected to deliver Nigeria’s national statement during the General Debate and hold bilateral meetings with world leaders, international organisations and development partners.
Key issues on Nigeria’s agenda include reform of the international financial system, sustainable development, climate finance, technology access and stronger African representation in global decision-making.
The engagements are also expected to provide an opportunity for Nigeria to deepen international partnerships on economic development, investment and access to technology.
Shettima arrived with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning Doris Uzoka-Anite and other senior government officials.
