CHINESE MEDICAL TEAM PROVIDES FREE HEALTHCARE TO NGORONGORO CONSERVATION STAFF IN TANZANIA

TANZANIA
A Chinese medical team has provided free healthcare services to frontline conservation staff working in Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The 28th Chinese medical team in mainland Tanzania conducted the outreach on Saturday in Ngorongoro, northern Tanzania. CHINESE DOCTORS OFFER FREE MEDICAL SERVICES The medical team provided consultations, physical examinations and health assessments for conservation workers. The services covered several medical specialties. These included cardiology, neurosurgery, hand and foot surgery, otorhinolaryngology and traditional Chinese medicine. In addition, the team distributed medicines at no cost and donated medical supplies to the conservation staff. TRAINING FOCUSES ON EMERGENCY RESPONSE The Chinese medical team also trained workers in basic emergency response skills. The training covered cardiopulmonary resuscitation, fieldwork safety and emergency treatment for injuries and illnesses. As a result, the conservation staff gained additional knowledge to protect their health while working in remote areas. OUTREACH SUPPORTS TANZANIA-CHINA HEALTH COOPERATION Frontline workers in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area often conduct field patrols. Their work can expose them to different health and safety risks. Mashaka Ramadhani, assistant head of the Ngorongoro-Lengai Geological Heritage Museum, said access to healthcare can be difficult because of the nature of their work. He welcomed the medical outreach and said it helped identify potential health risks among workers. Ramadhani also noted that the programme strengthened people-to-people health exchanges between Tanzania and China. CHINESE MEDICAL TEAM PLEDGES CONTINUED SUPPORT Liu Jia, head of the Chinese medical team, said the group would continue providing healthcare services to grassroots communities across Tanzania. The outreach highlights China’s continued medical cooperation with Tanzania. It also provides direct healthcare support to workers serving in remote communities and conservation areas.
