LAGOS, November 4, 2026 (Africa China News — ACN) — The 19th China Commodities Expo Nigeria opened on November 3 at the Landmark Centre in Lagos, bringing together Nigerian government officials, business leaders, Chinese manufacturers and investors to explore opportunities for stronger Nigeria–China industrial cooperation.

Organised by Shandong Brightway International Exhibition Co., Ltd., the three-day exhibition runs from November 3 to 5 under the theme “Made in China. Made for Africa.”

Organisers had projected that more than 250 Chinese manufacturing companies would participate.

Chinese Manufacturing Takes Centre Stage

The exhibition features agricultural machinery, excavators, road construction equipment, industrial machinery, automotive components, electrical equipment, renewable energy technologies and building materials.

These products are relevant to Nigeria's efforts to modernise agriculture, develop infrastructure and expand its industrial base.

Over nearly two decades, the expo has become a meeting point for Chinese manufacturers and buyers from Nigeria and other West African countries. This year's edition places particular emphasis on business matchmaking, technical services and partnerships with local manufacturers.

Seven Business and Government Leaders Highlight Cooperation Priorities

Zhou Jun, Honorary President of the Shandong Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria, said the chamber would continue to connect businesses and support Chinese companies seeking to expand into West African markets.

Han Wei, Chairperson of Shandong Brightway International Exhibition Co., Ltd., highlighted the importance of showcasing industrial machinery and creating opportunities for direct engagement between Chinese manufacturers and professional buyers across Africa.

Folashade Bada Ambrose, representing Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, called for Nigeria–China cooperation to move beyond the importation of finished goods towards joint ventures, local manufacturing and technology transfer.

Engr. Eyitope Aina Osinowo, Director of Industrial Inspection at the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, stressed the importance of industrial technology cooperation, skills development and local production in creating employment.

Chief Kola Akosile, representing the National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), called for greater manufacturing investment and lasting industrial partnerships.

Dr. Olubunmi Kole-Dawodu, representing the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), highlighted the need to improve access to industrial equipment, technology transfer and workforce training for Nigerian small and medium-sized enterprises.

Dr. Femi Egbesola, National President of the Association of Small Business Owners of Nigeria (ASBON), urged Nigerian businesses to move beyond importing Chinese products and take a more active role in manufacturing and industrial investment.

ACCBCF National Chairman Attends Opening Ceremony

High Chief Mike Yousuf Ugwu (Zheng Xiaopeng), National Chairman of the Africa China Chairmen of Business Council Forum (ACCBCF) and CEO and Publisher of Africa China News (ACN), attended the opening ceremony as a special guest.

He engaged with government officials and business leaders on opportunities in agricultural machinery, energy, infrastructure and manufacturing, with a focus on building long-term business relationships between African and Chinese enterprises.

From Trade to Industrial Partnerships

The exhibition provides a platform for discussions on manufacturing investment, technology transfer and industrial supply chain cooperation, extending its focus beyond product displays and commercial transactions.

For Chinese companies, Nigeria offers a large consumer market and access to the wider West African region.

For Nigeria, Chinese machinery, manufacturing technology and industrial expertise could support domestic production, create jobs and contribute to economic diversification.

The central challenge is turning commercial engagement into practical partnerships that build local capacity. Joint manufacturing, skills development and technology transfer will be important in determining the long-term benefits of Nigeria–China industrial cooperation.

The 19th China Commodities Expo Nigeria provides an opportunity for businesses and government representatives from both countries to advance those discussions.
