Tinubu Seeks Bigger Bolloré Investment in Nigeria’s Creative Economy

Can Nigeria turn its global cultural influence into bigger investments and more jobs? President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is pushing for deeper investment from France’s Bolloré Group as Nigeria seeks to expand its creative and digital economy.
Tinubu met Bolloré Group Chairman Vincent Bolloré and other executives in Paris during his working visit to France.
According to the Presidency, discussions focused on expanding the group’s investments in Nigeria, particularly in film, entertainment and fibre-optic infrastructure.
Bolloré’s interests in Nigeria include businesses connected to Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group, giving the group a significant presence across entertainment and media.
The company also expressed interest in deeper localisation of its Nigerian operations, a move that could create opportunities for local talent, production companies and other businesses within the creative sector.
Tinubu has increasingly positioned Nigeria’s creative industries, including Nollywood, Afrobeats and fashion, as important sources of economic growth and international influence.
The President said stronger investment in the sector could help Nigeria capture more value from its creative talent while creating jobs and expanding opportunities for young Nigerians.
The talks also highlight the growing link between entertainment and digital infrastructure. Better fibre-optic connectivity can support film production, music, streaming, digital businesses and other creative services.
For Nigeria, the challenge now is turning international interest into deeper local investment, stronger production capacity and sustainable employment.
The meeting with Bolloré therefore puts Nigeria’s creative economy at the centre of a broader investment conversation, one that connects culture, technology, infrastructure and jobs.
