XI JINPING TO VISIT US FOR STATE TALKS WITH TRUMP

CHINA
Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the United States from September 23 to 25 for a state visit at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, China’s Foreign Ministry has confirmed.
The visit will be Xi’s first state visit to Washington since 2015 and his second face-to-face meeting with Trump this year as the two countries seek to manage tensions over trade, technology and national security.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said Xi and Trump will exchange views on bilateral relations as well as major issues concerning world peace and development.
The two leaders are expected to discuss trade, technology and artificial intelligence, among other areas of friction between the world’s two largest economies.
Beijing said the visit will also advance dialogue under a framework of “constructive strategic stability” aimed at managing differences and supporting global peace and prosperity.
The meeting comes months after Xi and Trump met in Beijing in May, where they agreed to pursue a “constructive relationship of strategic stability.”
